Antonio Santangelo is a semiotician. He teaches Semiotics and philosophy of language, Textual Semiotics and New Media Languages at the eCampus University, and Semiotics of television programmes at the University of Turin.

His main interest is the development of a mature vision of semiotics as a social science that can be used at the same time as an analytical and as a creative tool, to understand and also to predict the meaning people may give to their experience of communication products and to their mutual interactions around them.

In the last years, he has been working on Artificial Intelligence and on the way it can affect the public sphere, in particular the construction of public opinion. Because of his expertise, he has worked for the Italian Institutions, as he contributed to draw up the Italian White Paper on Artificial Intelligence and Public Administration, together with the Agency for Digital Italy (Agid).
