Alfredo Sánchez is professor of computer science and director of the Laboratory of Interactive and Cooperative Technologies (http://ict.udlap.mx) at Universidad de las Américas Puebla (UDLAP). He holds MSc and PhD degrees in Computer Science from Texas A&M University. His research interests lie in the areas of Human-Computer Interaction, Computer-supported Cooperative Work and knowledge technologies. He has been a visiting professor at the University of Waikato, New Zealand, and a visiting scientist at the Center for Botanical Informatics of the Missouri Botanical Garden. In addition to his visit to Politecnico de Torino, he also has stayed at University of Agder (Norway), University of Zhejiang (China), Southeast University (China), and he Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics (China). Prof. Sánchez serves at the editorial board of the Journal of Internet Services and Applications as well as the International Journal of Digital Libraries. He also has served as president of the Mexican Computer Science Society and has been a member of the National Researchers System.

Prof. Sánchez spent a week at the Politecnico di Torino during May 2013 and was hosted at the Nexa Center, where he had a chance of discussing various potential collaborations in fields such as digital libraries, natural language processing, and network neutrality.
