This course will be taught by Charles and Fern Nesson of the Harvard Law School and will begin online on June 1 and culminate in three f2f meetings June 11, 12 and 15. The focus of the course is veritas, the jury, and the future of truth in cyberspace.

The program is modeled on the Nessons' original Harvard Law School course (available at http://canvas.harvard.edu/courses/2290), where it is described as “a call to reclaim the deliberative process as a means of generating social change.” In this course, you will explore the concept of the American jury in both theory and practice. You will engage as co-learners in small-group deliberations, real and virtual. You will gain hands-on live jury experience of persuading and being persuaded. You will learn about yourself and your jury in relation to others. We will begin by deliberating a historical legal case and continue with jury deliberations on a major issue of our time.

Lecturers

Charles Nesson is the William F. Weld Professor of Law at Harvard Law School and the founder of the Berkman Center for Internet & Society at Harvard University.

Fern Nesson is a graduate of the Harvard Law School, a lawyer, teacher and photographer.
