Shirley graduated from the University of California, Irvine and received a Bachelor of Arts with a double major in Political Science and International Relations. Additionally, she earned a Master of Laws (LL.M.) in Intellectual Property from the University of Turin, Italy and the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO). Shirley is currently the Office Manager and Intellectual Property Paralegal for a private law firm specializing in the prosecution of U.S., foreign, and international patents, trademarks, and copyrights. She is also a registered Irish and European Trademark Attorney. Since 2012, Shirley has served as a thesis adviser to her LL.M. alma mater.

During her visiting period with Nexa, she researched and contributed to our publication on the Survey of Private Copyright Documentation Systems and Practices.

On both an educational and professional level, Shirley hopes to provide more awareness on the importance of global harmonization in intellectual property laws and policies.
